Privacy Policy

DOM Visualizer is a Chrome extension designed to help developers and learners visualize the DOM structure of webpages. We take privacy seriously and keep the extension as simple and privacy-friendly as possible.

Data collection

The DOM Visualizer extension does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data.

  • No analytics or tracking scripts.
  • No logging of visited URLs.
  • No user accounts or login.
  • No data sent to external servers.

How the extension works

When you click the extension icon, DOM Visualizer reads the DOM structure of the current tab locally in your browser in order to render a visual DOM tree and highlight elements on the page.

This processing happens entirely on your device. The extension does not transmit the DOM content or any other page data to any remote server.

Permissions

DOM Visualizer uses a small set of permissions required for its core functionality:

  • activeTab – used to temporarily access the current tab when you activate the extension so it can read the DOM structure.
  • Host permissions – used to inject the content script into the page you are viewing so it can display the DOM tree and highlight elements.
  • scripting – used to run the visualization script on the active page. All code runs locally in your browser.

These permissions are only used for DOM visualization. They are not used to track user behavior, inject ads, or modify unrelated content.

Third-party services

The extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes in the future, we will update this page with a new “Last updated” date. Any changes will continue to respect user privacy and comply with Chrome Web Store policies.
